History of Our Yard 2009

Let me start by saying (or reminding you if you've actually been reading my blog) that I am from Manhattan.  Born and raised.  I had zero exposure to gardening.  I don't even remember having house plants.  But I did live near Central Park.  I also had zero exposure to power tools.  I dabbled in a little gardening at our last house, but things really took off 4 years ago when we moved here.  I owned a wheel barrow for the first time after buying this house.  And this is how the adventure began:

Did you get all that??  Let me try to explain a little more with some pictures.  These shots
were taken the day of our home inspection in April 2009.

When we put in our offer we had no idea the road was private property.  It didn't come up until
we were getting our survey done.  We were told we owned half the road.  Hubby and I thought
the road was cool.  We could see our kids learning to ride their tricycles, roller skate and bounce a ball on.   We didn't have a level surface anywhere else, so we were excited.

We moved into our house with a 3 month old and a year and a half year old.  The first
summer was slow.  But I did tear out some shrubbery and tidy things up.

In November 2009 we had at least 10 trees removed.  By someone else!
AND had all the stumps ground down.

The changes to come are crazy!  Just take a peek at some of the pictures from this year.
I will keep writing if you keep reading. :)
