I've been googling my camper model to get ideas and inspirations for my renovation. I've got a 1971 Shasta LoFlyte 1400. Well I found the exact same model for sale on ebay and reached out to the seller, Heather, the other night on the phone. Yeah, phone. Crazy concept I know. Anyway, it was awesome talking to Heather and she graciously agreed to send me pics of her trailer so I could share them with all of you. Thanks Heather! She says that her trailer was in way worse condition than mine when she bought it. Unfortunately she doesn't have any pics of the inside, but I LOVE this pic of the outside getting painted. This is exactly how Smart Jr. and I want to paint ours! No really. Even before we saw Heather's . I love the classic lightning bolt. And turquoise is my BFF. I was wondering if it would look weird to paint right across the door. Or if it would look weird to paint the accent strips white so they wouldn't be accents anymore.
Well now I know... both look awesome. I love how it turned out! I will probably end up painting my bumper and hitch turquoise too.
Or I might paint the lightning bolt silver and do white on top/turquoise on the bottom, like this trailer...
Look at this cutie with yellow. Notice the painted hitch and propane tank!
Heather's husband gutted the trailer and they came up with their own layout for the remodel. She put in a standard twin mattress with a lot of storage underneath. I don't plan on keeping the couch. dinette and bunk bed in my camper. I may have to remove them to put in new flooring and wall paneling, but I would put them back the same way after. We need all the sleeping space for our family of 5.
How funny is it that I used that same chevron fabric for the curtains in my laundry room makeover. Heather and I are clearly on the same page! (It's from Hobby Lobby)
The new modern refrigerator is tucked behind the fence door. So clever!
They took out the bathroom completely and made the kitchen cabinets one straight shot across the back. We are completely undecided on what to do on this end of the trailer. Of course I love the color!! Our kitchen is going to need some work. And we want to keep the toilet, but aren't sure of anything else as far as the bathroom is concerned. But of course I'll keep you posted! :)
Thanks for stopping by. You rock! Visit again soon,

How flipping cute is that camper! Oh and that fence door...can it get any cuter!!! The colors and decor are amazing for a camper...I want it in my house! Ha! Hope you are well!
ReplyDeleteRight!? I love the whole idea of fixing up an old camper. You can make them so cute and over the top and that's perfectly okay!! :)
ReplyDeleteHello! I am now the new owner of this Shasta. We purchased this vintage trailer from Heather and Vern about a month ago. We are completely in love with this trailer and took it to the FL Keys for our first camping trip over Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately we have had sever rain storms and having major leaking issues in several areas of the trailer, including all windows, door and side seams/j rail. We have removed side skin and have dicovered structural water damage and rotting wood. So upsetting as we thought we we purchasing a "mint" condition
ReplyDeleteOMG! That totally stinks! Have you been able to fix it? I know Heather used it all the time, so I don't get how it all of a sudden started leaking. I found some rotting wood issues once I got mine home and now I think we're going to have to take out the kitchen to fix it. I'm hoping I can put all the kitchen pieces back the way they were, otherwise I'll have to do something like Heather did and build the kitchen back from scrap. I've never been to the Florida Keys, but my mom loves it there! ~Liz
