So I'm still a little confused about how long a post has to be. Plus I am really mad that I didn't take more meticulous pictures during past DIY projects. That being said, I am grateful that I have as many before/after pictures as I do. Take for instance this quick re-do... I mentioned before that I am a Professional Organizer, well I had this client last year, one of my most favorite ever, and she was having a hard time getting rid of stuff. Sound familiar? Well this woman was 83 years old! She was {and still is} awesome and I was totally comfortable telling her, "You're crazy! When are you ever going to need _____!?" She'd tell me to go stuff it. It was great. Anyway.... She had this ugly old stool and I knew she didn't want to get rid of it, but she knew it was not worth keeping. So I offered to fix it up for her {free of charge}!
This was the stool when I got it home. I made sure my client was okay with me painting it and changing the fabric. What is that on there anyway? Turns out it was a shirt! Which made me laugh and I could totally appreciate.
I have a cabinet full of random fabric {and no I don't sew very often} and a garage full of random paint, so I was ready to get to work. I also told myself I was going to get it done that night and I ACTUALLY DID. It shocked my husband almost as much as it shocked me!
First thing I did was CLEAN the crap out the thing. Then I took off the old fabric which had been nailed on. When I got both layers of the previous fabric off I realized this "stool" was actually once a chair. That explains the weird tilt to the top. The back legs were taller that the front.
So I tried out one of my random pieces of fabric and must have decided at that point that the paint color was a good enough match, and once I had given it a good cleaning it didn't really need new paint anyway. Why repaint it only to give it a weathered look, when I already had a weathered look. I figured my client would be happy with me keeping it as close to its current state {and frankly I was probably just being lazy}.
This is what it looked like after
It was so simple, but my client was thrilled!
Thanks for visiting!
