You're at my Goodwill! The one in Stratford! The manager Al and his wife love me. Al has a tendency to slash prices even more for me, even. Heh. And I know the entire staff by name (since before they got those shirts with the "my name is" bit on them!). It's kind of ridiculous. One of the other 180-something people who linked up to YHL went there too, I noticed. I commented on her entry as well. She took pictures of the same red suitcases as you! http://www.buttonwoodcottage.com/2013/02/the-mackelmore-thrift-shop-challenge.html
I am way too excited to find local people... And I really need to not want those red suitcases to match one I already own. :/
Hi Bethany! You are my first real comment EVER!!! I love you :) Al does not really care for me, but two of the woman that work there are great. When I was pregnant with my second daughter I bought all of her baby clothes there. I've had some good furniture finds too. I can't wait to blog about all my past accomplishments.
Thanks again for me being my first comment. I am off to Once Upon A Child to sell four bins full of clothes. My 11 year old went on a shopping spree there yesterday. It was our first time in there. Have you ever been?
Yay! I am glad to be your first! Perhaps I will always have a special place in your heart. ;)
I have no idea really why Al likes me so much. But I embrace it! And I think it matters to the staff that I treat them all more like friends than just workers. I ask about their kids/spouses/etc. and reference things we discussed in the past. I worked retail so I remember how much it meant to be treated well. Enough rambling, sorry. Heh.
I need to actually use my poor little blog. I do have a few improvements for my apartment in the works, so I have some material to use. If my husband and I had a place of our own, I'd be able to DO more and have much more to say. Perhaps less time to say it, though. But, still, I could make enough "OHMYLANTA LOOK WHAT I FOUND AT THE THRIFT STORE!" posts to gag even a seasoned thrifter. I may need to let you in on my seeeeekrit garage sale place that has given me some of my best deals. I haven't told anyone else, yet. But you seem like good people. ;)
One of my first jobs was at a Once Upon a Child! I was caring for an awesome little girl for a family friend, but now that I don't have her anymore, I need to go try to sell the fabulous things I bought for her. I hadn't even thought of the place and was just going to try to Ebay some of the things. OUAC is easier. Sidenote: You can find some really great stuff for yourself at Plato's Closet! It's the teen/young adult version of Once Upon A Child and you can find some really cute things there. Not as good as the stuff at my Goodwill, necessarily. But it's all hit or miss in any second-hand situation.
Apologies for my incredible rambling! And you're welcome. :)
Bethany, I would love to check out your top secret shopping place! I really need to finish up projects around my house, but I have been working a lot lately, which is a good thing! My daughter and I went to Plato's Closet too. Actually, we went there first and she got 3 sweatshirts, then over to OUAC. Our first time at both places, but we'll definitely be back.
Where is the one with the brick front, btw? It looks kind of like the one in... Marlton, I think? But I haven't been there in so long that I can't be sure.

ReplyDeleteYup, you guessed it, but I think it's actually Mt. Laurel. It's tiny in there, but I have had some awesome finds in there too.
