    I have the same staircase and just had a big discussion with my son-in-law yesterday trying to decide what we could do with that section! This is very helpful.

      That section was such a pain in the butt to figure out what to do with! I really like it now, so I would totally recommend doing the same fix I did. It wasn't hard at all, if you're comfortable with a jigsaw. Good luck to you!
